Here is a little bit About Us. We are John and Kathy Huggins. I am a retired Navy Electronics Technician Chief. I traded the Navy adventure for a job in manufacturing quality assurance in 1986, and traded the job for the RV adventure in early 2005. Kathy has held jobs in the medical office arena as well as raising two sons. We now have 5 grand children and two great grand children.
I retired in 2004 and later we sold our house, bought our motorhome and hit the road. We are life members of the Escapees RV Club, as well as members of Good Sam Club and Family Motorcoach Association (FMCA). We have held campground memberships in Thousand Trails, RPI, and Passport America.
We have done much volunteer work since hitting the road including working at the Escapees CARE center in Livingston, Texas. We also are registered Red Cross disaster volunteers, and served in a Hurricane Katrina shelter in San Antonio, Texas. We have extensive workamping experience having worked in campgrounds in PA, IL, SD, AZ, and FL.
2009, we hosted a live radio show in Sarasota, FL during the winter and we
called it Living the RV Dream. Since then, we have become podcasters,
broadcasting our weekly 1 hour RV lifestyle show of the same name on the
internet. Who knew that Kathy would become a wonderful interviewer as we talk
with many folks in the RV industry as well as in the lifestyle. Check it out at http://blog.livingthervdream.com/
At the request of our listeners, we wrote a book about the RV lifestyle with a major slant on full-time RVing. It is called "So, You Want To Be An RVer" and is available as an e-Book and paperback at Amazon.com. It is now in its first revision and is more than twice the original size with over 30 additional chapters. We also released our second book "So, You Want to be a Workamper" and a pamphlet called "How to survive an RV show and have a really great time" They are on Amazon as well.
We have been blogging since 2011. We are not as regular as we would like to be, but we do post on major things that come up in our travels with many pictures on some posts. Check it out on the blog and podcast page.
We have a store page where you can purchase our older shows. We have them packaged on CD's 20 shows each. We also have a special where all of them are on a Flash Drive. We offer autographed copies of our books as well. A new feature is our Cafe Press store with Living the RV Dream logo merchandise. Check it out.
Kathy and I have done RV seminars at rally's around the country. We currently have 5 different seminars about the RV lifestyle that we can present including Full-Time Lifestyle, Lessons Learned, Workamping, Surviving an RV Show, and Podcasting.
In 2012, we started a Facebook group called Living the RV Dream. It has grown dramatically to become among the largest and most active RV lifestyle groups on Facebook. It is an open group, so join us.
You don't know all about us without seeing our home on wheels, a 2004 Fleetwood Expedition towing our Hyundai Santa Fe. We have driven over 65,000 miles and traversed the country four times. We left Florida in early 2005 and haven't looked back. Our goal is to visit all the National Parks in the continental US. The Santa Fe has now been replaced by a 2014 Honda CRV.
In late 2016 we sold the RV and bought a house in Florida. We are no longer able to travel much due to Kathy's medical issues.
Here we are just above Jerome, AZ
